AvantGo releases new mobile travel features

imageDUBLIN, Calif. -- The beta release of travel features for AvantGo mobile Internet service has been announced by iAnywhere Solutions, a subsidiary of Sybase. The new AvantGo features are available as an additional tab within the application, enabling users to access flight itineraries, weather, directions, maps and city guides for 98 metropolitan areas worldwide.

Roadpost offers wireless plan for global travelers

road3TORONTO -- Roadpost, a provider of global voice and data communications solutions for the international traveler, has announced a new selection of simplified airtime bundles that "save travelers more than 80% over other communication options." The new pricing schedules include extended base rate coverage on rental packages up to 30 days, flat rate fees for all international based calls and simplified zone rates for rental and subscription services.

UK broadcaster to use GetThere online booking

LONDON -- British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB), the United Kingdom’s leading digital television provider, has signed a contract to use the GetThere DirectCorporate online self-booking system for business travel. BSkyB expects about 500 employees will use the product to book about 7,000 trips a year.

Wireless travel itinerary for corporate travelers

imageATLANTA -- Travel Incorporated, a US travel management company, has launched m-Itinerary, a wireless application powered by wireless platform provider Air2Web. The new m-Itinerary service is being marketed as one of the country's first wireless applications to provide corporate travelers with their full travel itinerary, as well as airport security warnings, reservation changes, and weather delays, via alerts to web-enabled phones, text messaging phones, or personal device assistants (PDAs).

Wireless Blackberry printing offered by PrinterOn

WATERLOO, Ontario -- Research In Motion Limited (RIM) and PrinterOn Corporation have announced an alliance to deliver and market PrinterOn's Wireless Internet Printing application for BlackBerry. Called PrinterOn PocketWhere for BlackBerry, the companies said the mobile application combines viewing, faxing and printing capabilities for e-mail and e-mail attachments to offer true mobile printing.

vVault targets mobile workers with wireless suite

SAN FRANCISCO -- Studies indicate that more than half of all workers are traveling or away from the office at least one day each week, and this is causing a growing demand for remote wireless access to company files.
