Opodo CEO sees more consolidation in online travel
LONDON -- There will be further consolidation of the online travel industry and it is inevitable in Europe the Pan-European companies will be the winners, said Opodo.com CEO David Scowsill in a keynote address at EyeforTravel's European Travel Distribution Summit. "Pure nationals will operate in niches, but cannot play globally," Scowsill said.
"Consolidation, for both the leisure and corporate travel players, has been the name of the game over the last 12 months, as we have seen a spate of acquisitions and mergers and the US," he said.

Air of optimism and new technology at 3GSM

Just making sense of what was where and happening when was the first challenge for such a large event with 576 vendors from 35 countries, spanning five halls and 25,000 square meters.

Davos participants get special iPaq Pocket PC
DAVOS, Switzerland -- Compared to the enthusiasm and optimism of last year's annual World Economic Forum, the global gathering this past week of 1,000 top business leaders together with several hundred political leaders, journalists, and academics and artists was quiet and somber. But there was one bright spot, almost a bit of fun, with a gift from Hewlett-Packard of the new Wi-Fi enabled HP iPaq Pocket PC to all conference participants.

Helsinki to host travel technology conference
