New site offers reviewers a share of the profits

Moneysupermarket.com founder Simon Nixon has launched a travel website called Simonseeks.com.

The new offering will encourage users to share their tips with the community by offering them a cut of clickthrough revenue – the commissions received on flight, holiday and hotel bookings that originate from the site - and display revenue from advertising.

“I am confident that within a year of launch, we will see professional simonseekers who have been able to give up their day job and earn an income from their travel writing,” he said.

As per the information available, writers will get paid based on the number of site visitors who click on their travel guides. The more often an article is read, the more the author earns.

Commission will be paid on bookings made with the site’s travel partners, which include lastminute.com, ebookers.com, hotels.com, Superbreak, Laterooms and Mr and Mrs Smith, and writers will also take a share of advertising revenue.

All guides uploaded will be vetted by the editorial team to keep the writing at a certain standard.

Nixon’ s aim for simonseeks.com is for it to become one of the top 10 travel websites in Britain within 12 months of launch.

Nixon, who founded moneysupermarket.com 10 years ago, reportedly made over £100m when the company was floated in 2007.
