Kayak.com focuses on commercialisation of the UK and European regional sites

Travel search site Kayak.com has appointed its first sales manager for Europe with the addition of Gareth Walton to the role of senior sales manager for UK and Europe.

Walton will be responsible for the commercialisation of the UK and European regional sites through advertising opportunities available from the Kayak Network, a patent-pending advertising platform.

Walton will be joining the London-based team. Previusly, Walton was commercial director for DailyMotion, a video sharing site.

Kayak.com currently offers two targeted advertising opportunities in Europe: Sponsored links on results page (Located on the right hand rail of the results page, Kayak.com's sponsored links enable advertisers to target based on specific search criteria including destination, origination, travel dates, length of stay, and travel vertical. This feature is currently available on US, UK, French, and German sites) and Trip Ideas Newsletter (The UK newsletter is a monthly editorial email. The current subscriber list is over 400,000. Available for US and UK markets only).

Kayak.com plans to expand the product offering in current markets and add advertising opportunities in additional countries in 2009.
