Travelport GDS signs agreement with Lufthansa and SWISS

Travelport GDS has signed new agreement with Lufthansa and SWISS, resulting in availability of full content of both airlines to all Galileo and Worldspan-connected users worldwide until the end of 2011.

The long-term agreements come in to effect from July 1.

Significantly, under the new agreements, all GDS surcharges will be waived for Travelport GDS travel agencies who choose to participate in the new Lufthansa and SWISS Preferred Fares programmes, soon to be launched in Germany, Austria Switzerland and Lichtenstein.

Thierry Antinori, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Lufthansa Passenger Airlines said the commercial terms of this new agreement allows the airline to offer participating travel agencies all of its fares without applying additional Preferred Fare fees until the end of 2011.

Outside of the Preferred Fare markets of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Lichtenstein, Galileo and Worldspan-connected agencies will continue to have access to all of Lufthansa's and SWISS' published fares and inventory.

Last month, it was shared that Sabre agents in Germany, Austria and Switzerland who choose to participate in the Lufthansa and SWISS Preferred Fares programs will be able to access and sell all fares and inventory without a fee.
