"BA is ripping off passengers": Ryanair

European low fares airline Ryanair has responded to British Airways' increase in its fuel surcharges by releasing 500,000 seats for £10 with a guarantee of no fuel surcharges ever.

"BA today announced its second fuel surcharge hike in a month, increasing its unavoidable fuel levy by £30 to £109 per one-way flight. British Airways has confirmed that it is buying fuel at $40 less than current market rates and is 70% hedged at $82 until June, so today's increase is just another BA scam," stated Ryanair.

Ryanair's Lorna Farren said: "All airlines are facing the same oil prices, yet only one airline, Ryanair, guarantees passengers that it will never introduce a fuel surcharge, even if oil hits $200 a barrel. British Airways has confirmed that it is buying fuel at $40 less than current prices, and is now ripping off passengers by increasing its unavoidable fuel surcharges for the second time in a month. This latest fuel surcharge hike means that BA's £109 fuel surcharge is now almost four times the cost of Ryanair's average fare of £30."
