Galileo asserts its leadership in e-tickets

Galileo has signed up Aerosvit-Ukranian Airlines, Air Tahiti Nui, El Al, Kingfisher, China Airlines and Royal Air Maroc as new e-ticketable carriers on the GDS, taking the total to 80.

By January 2007, IATA will require 70 percent of all tickets to be electronic. Galileo says it is currently ahead of this target with more than 80 percent of tickets issued so far this year being e-tickets. The global distribution system company says its e-ticketing is not limited to point to point journeys.  Complex itineraries, across multiple destinations can be e-ticketed.

“Galileo is giving agents 80 great reasons to make airline reservations via the GDS with the addition of Aerosvit Airlines, Air Tahiti Nui, El Al, Royal Air Maroc, China Airlines and Kingfisher as activated e-ticketable carriers,” says Patrick Lukan, country manager UK, Galileo.

“We are well on schedule to help meet IATA’s objective to achieve 100 percent implementation of e-ticketing worldwide by January 2008. E-ticketing has to be the choice for agencies seeking an efficient mechanism for making or amending bookings.  There is also a financial benefit with agents and their customers making savings on tickets by avoiding paper ticket charges. Our customers tell us that they want the choice of using e-tickets and I am pleased to say that we are delivering on this requirement and once again Galileo is a market leader in this area,” said Lukan.
