September performance brings good news for AirTran Airways

AirTran Airways, one of America's largest low-fare airlines, has
reported that its September traffic grew by 55 percent on 30 percent
more capacity.

AirTran Holdings, Inc.'s subsidiary stated that revenue passenger miles
(RPMs), available seat miles, load factor and passenger enplanements
represent a record for the month of September and a record for any
quarter in the company's history.

AirTran Airways' president and chief operating officer Robert L. Fornaro
said that the company is pleased with its record traffic and load
factors for September, particularly given the difficulty of dealing with
two severe storms impacting our Gulf Coast operations from
Gulfport-Biloxi to Houston.

"Clearly, last year's numbers were impacted by a number of storms in
Florida, nonetheless our traffic growth this year is phenomenal and a
continuing testament to AirTran Airways' strong product of low fares and
quality service," said Fornaro.

"Based on RPMs, traffic grew by 55.1 percent, to more than 851 million
RPMs, on an increase of 30.2 percent in capacity, based on ASMs.
September's load factor increased to 71.2 percent compared to 59.8
percent in September 2004.  The airline also enplaned 1,258,308
passengers in the month of September, a 45.2 percent increase over
September 2004": stated the company.

It was added that for the third quarter of 2005, traffic grew by 42.8
percent on an increase of 31.1 percent in capacity as compared to the
third quarter of 2004. Load factor for the third quarter 2005 was 76.3
percent.

Year-to-date 2005 traffic grew 34.9 percent on a capacity increase of
29.6 percent resulting in a load factor of 74.3 percent.  The airline
served a record 4.39 million customers, up 32.7 percent over third
quarter 2004. For the first nine months of this year, more than 12
million customers were served, an increase of 26.1 percent over the
first nine months of 2004, according to AirTran.
