Sabre opts for SeeBeyond ICAN Suite

Sabre Holdings has opted for SeeBeyond ICAN Suite as its standard
integration platform for supplier- and customer-facing applications.

As per the information available, the company plans to replace a
15-year-old EDI system with Web services by using SeeBeyond Technology
Corp.'s Integrated Composite Application Network (ICAN) suite as its
integration platform.

Sabre decided to go ahead with SeeBeyond ICAN Suite due "to its ability
to deliver a mature, scalable integration platform", according to Bob
Offutt, senior vice president and chief architect of Strategic
Architecture for Sabre Holdings.

Offutt said the suite aligns with Sabre's vision for Web services
orchestration and a Service-Oriented Architecture based on industry
standards. The company said the SeeBeyond ICAN Suite will advance
Sabre's implementation of a reusable infrastructure for connectivity
that will allow Sabre to differentiate itself through a new generation
of supplier access solutions.

The company reportedly told media that Sabre will be completing a pilot
project in October to connect with one undisclosed supplier using Web
services. It was further added that the SeeBeyond tools will provide
business rules and connectivity to replace Sabre's high-speed, real-time
EDI system, which doesn't have the flexibility of a service-oriented
architecture

Carv Moore, president and chief operating officer, SeeBeyond said, "With
the SeeBeyond ICAN Suite, Sabre will be able to provide seamless
connectivity to its constituents while optimizing internal business
operations in a scalable, robust manner."
