Wi-Fi offered at key business travel locations
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. -- Nomadix and Swisscom Eurospot have announced several key business locations at airports, major rail stations, hotels and conference centers in the United Kingdom and Germany that have been enabled for public access Wi-Fi.
"Partnering with Nomadix will give Swisscom Eurospot's premier Wi-Fi hotspots flexibility, security, and roaming capabilities," said Chris Brown, UK country manager for Nomadix. "Swisscom Eurospot views Nomadix as a leader in providing public access solutions and is an important step in strengthening Swisscom Eurospot's position as the leading pan-European high-speed wireless Internet access provider."
Nomadix is a leading provider of gateways and embedded software for creating intelligent networks for transparent, secure, high-speed Internet access to the mobile user. Swisscom Eurospot (formerly Megabeam) is a high-speed wireless Internet access provider offering corporate remote access at key business travel locations across Europe and the United Kingdom.
"Nomadix continues to equip leading wireless service providers deploying easy to use, cost-effective public-access networks," said Harry Stevens, Nomadix EMEA sales director. "This opportunity to work with Swisscom Eurospot demonstrates Nomadix's leadership in the public-access space as well as expanding our global footprint."
This collaboration has Swisscom Eurospot using the Nomadix's family of public-access gateways in a variety of locations, including the Bristol Airport and the Crown Plaza Hotel in Marlow in the UK, and the Holiday Inn in Frankfurt, Germany. The two companies said the partnership with Nomadix has given Swisscom Eurospot increased flexibility when deploying HotSpots in a variety of locations.
In addition to enabling a secure service for mobile Wi-Fi computer users, the Nomadix systems provide Swisscom Eurospot's customers with roaming capabilities. Swisscom Eurospot's customers will have the capability to access other networks while retaining one billing relationship.
Swisscom Eurospot has hotspots live in key business centers across the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy and Belgium. The service is live at more than 100 European sites, including major airports, hotels, railway stations and conference centers.
Backed by a number of leading organizations in the IT and telecommunications industries, including Intel and Toshiba, Swisscom Eurospot is being used by blue-chip organizations including investment banks, consultancies, energy, technology and FMCG companies.
The company has headquarters in Westlake Village, with sales offices in Europe, China, Japan, Singapore and South Korea. Nomadix sells and supports its products globally through OEM partnerships, Value Added Resellers and Systems Integrators.
Last month at the CTIA trade show in New Orleans, Nomadix and inCode Telecom used the Wireless Technology Lab, a partnership between inCode, TMNG, and Fluor, to demonstrate a Wi-Fi enabled laptop connecting to a HotSpot, undergoing authentication and tallying the cost on an existing cell phone account.
“Working with inCode and the Wireless Technology Lab further allows Nomadix to broaden its reach to mobile operators looking for ways to expand their service offerings," said John DiGiovanni, director of marketing for Nomadix. "Nomadix’ product is the key component for deploying successful Public-access networks.”
Also last month, Nomadix and T-Systems, a division of Deutsche Telekom Group and Europe’s second-largest integrated systems provider, enabled high-speed wireless Wi-Fi access to more than an estimated 700,000 conference visitors attending the CeBIT 2003 in Hanover, Germany.
Nomadix is headquartered in Westlake Village, Calif., with sales offices in Europe, China, Japan, Singapore and South Korea.
