GoAmerica offers Boingo at airports and hotels
GoAmerica, a provider of wireless data solutions, and Boingo Wireless have agreed to provide GoAmerica's corporate customers with access to Boingo's ultra-high-speed Wi-Fi service. Launched two months ago, Boingo's Wi-Fi service offers high-speed wireless access in major hotels, airports, coffee shops and other popular business traveler locations.
More than 500 locations are currently available and the company has announced plans for hundreds more expected in coming months. As part of GoAmerica's combined WAN/LAN solution, Boingo's Wi-Fi technology provides wireless Internet connection speeds of up to 11 megabits per second.
Announced earlier today, GoAmerica plans to be the first to offer the enterprise a combined WAN/LAN solution, enabling customers to benefit from a single source for all wireless needs.
"Boingo has done an excellent job aggregating multiple 802.11 service providers, giving users a single seamless network across the country," said John Costello, senior vice president of strategic alliances for GoAmerica. "We believe they will be a valuable ally to us as we provide high-speed, hot-spot access to our corporate customers.''
Wi-Fi has quickly gained popularity in heavily trafficked areas -- known as "hot spots" -- such as airports, hotels and coffee shops, where businesspeople often stop to connect to the office. Wi-Fi networks offer ultra-high-speed wireless Internet access that makes it easy to use corporate applications when away from the office, making mobile workers more productive than ever before.
"The GoAmerica team's vision of a wireless mobile workforce for all enterprise customers shows a tremendous understanding of how work will be done in the future," said said Dave Hagan, president of Boingo Wireless. "High-speed wireless access will be a cornerstone of corporate productivity. GoAmerica's experienced sales force and strategic distribution provide a tremendous opportunity for Boingo."
Boingo currently provides high-speed wireless access in major airports such as Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin-Bergstrom, San Jose and Seattle-Tacoma. There are additional Wi-Fi hot spots in select properties of major hotel chains, including Hilton, Marriott, Sheraton, Radisson, Wyndham and several others. In the coming months, Boingo will add partial coverage in Atlanta-Hartsfield, Chicago-Midway, Philadelphia, Baltimore-Washington, Washington-Dulles and Boston Logan airports, as well as in additional hotels, coffee shops and other business meeting locations.
Boingo Wireless, Inc. was founded in 2001 by Sky Dayton, founder and current chairman of EarthLink. Boingo received venture funding from New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Sprint PCS and Evercore Ventures. Boingo's strategy is to provide the largest network of ultra-high speed wireless Internet access for business travelers through Wi-Fi ``hot spots'' worldwide. It is founded on a commitment to quality customer service and provides easy-to-use software to simplify finding and connecting to Wi-Fi networks.
